Regression Mix 022 - January 1980


Back to January 1980, when the Rubik’s Cube first appeared at the London Toy Show, Ayatollah Khomeini had become the Supreme Leader of Iran and British Steel workers went on strike looking for a 20% pay rise. The world lost Joy Adamson of ‘Born Free’ fame and entertainer Jimmy Durante. Peter Sellers starred in one of his last and possibly, best films. ‘Being There’, which earned him an Oscar nomination. Steve Martin was making a name for himself in ‘The Jerk’ and the first Star Trek Movie was proving a hit at the box office. The first UK Indie chart was published in ‘Record Week’ with Spizzenergi at pole position. Pink Floyd released a single from one of the best selling concept albums of all time, ‘The Wall’ and The Clash had success with their number 11 single and Top 10 album ‘London Calling’. It was also the month that the first episodes of ‘Newsnight’ and ‘Hi-De-Hi’ aired on the BBC. All those memories, feelings and long past moments which made you who you are today.
